August Favourite Finds

Woah, how did we get to the end of the month again already?! August has been a particularly hectic one in my corner of the world, with a huge project at work resulting in early starts, late evenings and even a few Saturday’s consulting the community as well. September isn’t looking much better, so I think I’ll need a break when it’s all over! I still found time for some fun though – so here are my August favourites!

King of the Castle, Geelong

I road-tripped to Geelong earlier in the month with some of my favourite people to visit a friend of ours who lives down there (and her new puppy!) and a delicious brunch was most definitely required. We headed to King of the Castle and feasted and laughed for hours, with my smashed pea & avocado dish super delicious. We also couldn’t pass up the opportunity to order a matcha smoothie bowl, considering Matcha Maiden herself was part of our brunch party and it was definitely worth it! I highly recommend a visit to King of the Castle if you find yourself down Geelong way!

A New Book Club

For a long time I’d be wanting to join a book club but I had never found the time, nor the right club but this month I may have changed all that! I had a bit of a browse on Meetup and found a book club that meets once a month at a local pub, which made me think they would be right up my alley, and I was right! It was an excellent way to make sure I keep up with my nightly reading, and spending a few hours on a Saturday chatting about books whilst enjoying a beer was such a nice thing to do. I’m looking forward to next month’s meeting now!

Serotonin Dealer, Richmond

I managed to squeeze in another brunch date with same ladies this month while the fifth member of our little group was down visiting from Sydney, and this time we headed to Serotonin Dealer in Richmond. The cafe lives up to its name, it’s bright and airy with gorgeous pops of yellow throughout and the food definitely left us feeling incredibly happy! I started with a golden latte which is almond milk with turmeric, ginger, cinnamon & pepper and it was SO good (not to mention cute to look at!). I then feasted on the Positive Pancakes, made with banana flour and topped with homemade yoghurt balls, banana ice cream, berries and more. It was definitely a happy way to spend a few hours on a Sunday, and I will be back to try more of the menu that’s for certain!

Crochet Class

This month I decided it was time to jump on the crochet bandwagon and did a beginners class at Yarn & Co in Collingwood. I have a long way to go before I’m crocheting rugs and beanies for you all, but I’m excited to keep practising and see how I go (once I have a bit more time on my hands!). Hopefully there will be many evenings of crocheting in the coming months, I’m sure I’ll be sharing lots of updates on instagram once I can get some consistent tension in my stitches! If you’ve got any suggestions for crochet blogs and videos then please do leave them in the comments!
