Trupp Cooking School Fermented Foods Class & a Giveaway!

 I attended the class as a guest of Trupp’s Cooking School

No doubt you’ve seen by now that fermented foods are making a rather large comeback in Australia right now, with drinks like kombucha and foods like kimchi becoming much easier to find in our shops and restaurants. I’ve been trying to introduce them to my diet but hadn’t gotten to the point of actually making my own at home, so when I was invited along to the Lost Art of Fermented Foods Class at Trupp Cooking School I jumped at the chance to learn more!

Surprisingly Non-Vegetarian Foods

I’ve been vegetarian for about 5 or so years now, and as I already had some friends who were vegetarian and vegan I had an advantage in knowing what to look out for on packaging to make sure I wasn’t accidentally eating non-veg friendly foods. There are so many types of packaging and it’s not always easy to find necessary description on it. Today I thought I would share some of the surprisingly non-vegetarian foods I have come across, which will hopefully be helpful for anyone thinking of cutting meat out of their diets, or even if you’re cooking for vegetarian friends!

Recipe: Tofu Vermicelli Bowl

I’ve gone a bit Vietnamese food crazy lately, with pad thai, rice paper rolls and the like making regular appearances in my kitchen. This tofu vermicelli bowl has also been a part of the mix and I’ve been loving the mix of fresh, crispy vegetables, lightly fried tofu and lots of herbs and chilli.

Recipe: Coconut, Almond & Date Cookies

Whenever my folks come over they look to see if there’s any baked goods in my kitchen, and they’re always disappointed if they come up short. So the next time I was heading out to visit them I knew I better not show up empty handed so whipped up these coconut, almond & date cookies which were definitely well received!

Recipe: Go-To Guacamole

We’re back for week 3 of the Meatless Monday linkup & I can’t wait to see what you’ve all been cooking! As for me, I whipped up this guacamole for my recent grand final day BBQ and I have to say, I don’t know the last time I made something that has received such rave reviews from everyone present! I think I could have made at least twice as much and it would have all been eaten, so it’s safe to say this is now my go-to guacamole recipe!
