Growing Veggies in the Inner City

There’s little better than cooking with vegetables and herbs picked straight from your garden, and with the growing focus on food miles and eating as healthy and sustainably as possible, growing your own veggies makes a lot of sense. Sustainable Living Festival

From February 9th – 24th the Sustainable Living Festival is running in and around Melbourne with talks, movies, workshops and exhibitions. The main event is the ‘Big Weekend’ held on the 15-17th of February in and around Federation Square in central Melbourne. There is a market full of stalls selling sustainable products, informing about their work and holding demonstrations as well as a range of talks, interactive workshops and exhibits. There was even a bike valet parking station!

Homemade Bath Products

As first cab of the rank in my quest to learn new things I decided to do a homemade bath products class run through Laneway Learning and taught by the Green Renters. The class was held outdoors at the People’s Market which has taken up residence not far from my place, resulting in many visits by me to trial their ever-changing food options, browse the craft stalls and sample the drinks. It’s a pretty cool setup on what was an inner city car park.
