How to Plan a Gilmore Girls Watching Party

Anyone that knows me is well aware of my love for the show Gilmore Girls, so with the new episodes landing on Netflix later this month I thought I would plan a Gilmore Girls watching party, and share my ideas with any fellow Gilmore fans out there! I’d love to hear your ideas as well!

Clothing & Decor

First things first, any Gilmore Girls watching party should include all participants loaded up with coffee from an appropriate coffee mug – it’s hard to go past the classic Luke’s Diner mug (5), although I also love the ‘You’re The Lorelai to my Rory’ mug (1) too!

Dressing as the Gilmore ladies is a pretty simple task given pretty much any early 2000s fashion showed up on the show at one stage or another, but personally I love the tops below (4) as a simpler option! I think I need one of those jumpers in my life (3), even if it will be almost summer by the time the show is on tv here in Australia!

Lastly, each member of the watching party should proudly display their allegiances with a Team Jess (2), Dean or Logan badge (6) which may result in some lighthearted arguments, but any true Gilmore fan is used to having to defend their choice!

Setting the scene is equally important – I already have an In Omnia Paratus print framed at home – but I’m seriously considering adding the food poster (1), old style print (4) or signage (6) to my home as well! Hanging the Gilmore Girls (3) banners (2) around the lounge room is another excellent option, then scatter some coasters (7) and a cushion or two (5) and you’re set!

Food

Obviously one of the biggest elements when starting to plan a Gilmore Girls watching party is deciding what food to serve as really, as long as it is junk food the options are pretty endless! Of course you could also go a little fancier and plan a ‘Friday Night Dinner’ themed evening if you’d prefer! Here are some of my favourite Gilmore Food ideas, I’d love to hear your suggestions too!

Main Course

  • Pizza
  • Chinese takeaway
  • Burgers
  • Lots and lots of fries
  • Tacos (maybe these ones) or burritos
  • Sookie’s magic risotto
  • Lobster puffs
  • Pasta a la Sookie (also known as Mac and Cheese)
  • Devilled eggs
  • Tofurkey

Dessert

  • Dessert sushi
  • Mallowmars (learn to make your own here)
  • Ice cream
  • Homemade Pop Tarts (like these ones)
  • Pie – cherry, blueberry, banana cream, whatever takes your fancy
  • Pancakes (especially blueberry pancakes, but with no more than 12 blueberries!)
  • Donuts
  • All the candy you can get your hands on!

Drinks

  • Coffee coffee coffee
  • A bright pink ‘Rory’ drink which should taste like a My Little Pony
  • Beer
  • Martinis

Are you a fan of Gilmore Girls as well? Are you going to plan a Gilmore Girls watching party for the revival?

I love me a good Netflix binge but alas, I think I’m the only person in the world who has never seen the Gilmore Girls. I think I need to rectify this situation stat!
