May Favourite Finds

May hasn’t exactly been the best month for me personally, but that doesn’t mean that there weren’t some excellent things as well! So to round out the month I thought I’d share my May favourite finds with you all! I’d love to hear about any new favourites you’ve discovered this month as well!

May Favourite Finds

Strictly Ballroom

I was lucky enough to get invited along to see Strictly Ballroom thanks to Nuffnang and I had a wonderful night out with one of my best friends. The show was so much fun. Over the top, more than a little cheesy, but in a lighthearted, funny, highly entertaining way. You could definitely tell Baz Luhrmann was involved, that’s for sure! The costumes were elaborate, with more sequins than I have seen in one place since I danced as a kid, the songs were all really well sung, and my face hurt by the end of it from smiling so much! It’s still on in Melbourne for a little while longer (until the 24th of July) before it heads to Brisbane, so if you’re in either of those cities I’d definitely recommend checking it out!

Sukin’s New Range

I’ve been a big fan of Sukin for years now, with a few of their products part of my daily skincare routine, so when I spotted their new products at my local chemist I picked up a few to try out and I’m so glad I did! The Micellar Cleansing Water is now my go-to makeup remover, it’s gentle whilst still actually removing all my makeup, and leaves my skin feeling soothed rather than stripped back.

The main part of their new range is the ‘super greens’ products, and I have been using both the facial scrub and clay masque from the range over the last few weeks. The scrub has replaced Sukin’s other scrub as a staple in my shower, it leaves my skin feeling soft and clean, and it smells amazing too! The masque also smells delicious (cranberry is the key scent in both products, which is a nice change from floral scents!) and has been excellent for my skin, which tends to dry out in the colder weather. It’s amazing that they can make these products in such an eco-friendly way for such an affordable price, but I’m so glad they do!

U-Brew It

At the start of May I headed out to U-Brew It with my dad and one of his friends to brew our own beer and it was such a fun way to spend our Saturday morning! The staff step you through the whole process, from measuring out the ingredients, to adding and stirring everything at the right time, all the way through pouring it into a bucket for the fermentation process to take place. It was almost like baking in some ways, particularly the importance of precisely measuring all the ingredients, and the need to closely follow the recipe, so I think dad and his mate were happy to have me there to help out (neither of them are really bakers!).

Everything they make at U-Brew It is preservative and additive free which is definitely a plus, it’s so nice to know exactly what is going into what you are making. We’re actually back there today bottling up our creations, so hopefully it all worked out well and is delicious! If you’re a beer fan then I would highly recommend getting some mates together and giving this a try (there’s probably similar places in most capital cities), it was a lot of fun, plus you get to drink beer!

Vegetable Spiralizer

I finally got my hands on a vegetable spiralizer earlier in the month and I may have gone a little spiral crazy ever since! It’s super straightforward to use and the resulting veggies are perfect for so many dishes – salads, stir fries and the (in)famous zucchini noodles to name just a few! I find it much faster to use than grating the veggies and it’s definitely less clean-up than pulling out the food processor, plus there’s definitely the novelty factor as well! You can generally pick them up from most kitchenware stores, or online, so I’d recommend getting your hands on one!

Great finds, Liz! I don’t have a spiralizer and I’m guessing like you, if I had one I’d go a bit crazy with it! Love the sound of the Sukin greens range – I must give it a try.

Thanks a bunch for linking up with My Monthly Loves! Hope to see you there again next month.
