Packing a Picnic

love picnics. Always have, and most likely always will. I think the combination of being outside in the sunshine, eating delicious food and hanging out with friends and loved ones is pretty much perfect.

My love for picnics is even stronger now as I’m the owner of an awesome picnic basket and rug, courtesy of B. The basket is one of those old-school wicker ones, with spots on the inside for cutlery, plates and glasses. I love it.

One of my favourite things about picnics is it almost doesn’t even matter what you take. They can be as simple or elaborate as you like, and are perfect any time of the day.

For our trip to Healesville Sanctuary for B’s birthday I packed us a picnic lunch and decided to include a range of things that could be mixed and matched for variety. I also wanted to have both savoury and sweet, and considering it was his birthday it wouldn’t have been complete without some cake!

Here’s what I ended up packing:

| Bread | Crackers | Gouda | Goat’s cheese | Dip | Marinated Vegetables | Celery and Carrot sticks | Ginger Ale | Chocolate Coated Strawberries | Choc-Orange Cupcakes |

It all went down a treat!

What do you pack for picnics?

Wow this looks amazing! I love your picnic basket. To be honest when my and my man go for a picnic we usually bring some champagne along for the ride 😉 Your recipes look divine, though! xo

Isn’t the basket gorgeous! He won’t tell me where he got it from but I love it. We sometimes pack something a little stronger too for picnics where no driving is required!
Thanks for your lovely comment xx

    Hi Liz,

My name is Ora and I am a PhD student in education. On your blog you have a picture of a man cutting stuff for a picnic– wonderful photo! For my dissertation I need to collect 84 pictures that fit specific German tongue twisters. Would it be possible to use your picture in my project? If so, I would distribute the photo to approximately 16 classrooms. Would this cost me? If so, how much? Please note that I do not have any budget for my project.

    Sincerely,

    Ora
