Review: Daisy’s Milkbar, Petersham

On my recent eating tour of Sydney we started our Saturday with a visit to Daisy’s Milkbar in Petersham for brunch. We got there around 10am and managed to snag ourselves a seat outside in the sunshine, with the place quickly filling up not long after we arrived. It’s decked out like a retro milkbar, with lollies on display in glass jars around the counter and everything – super cute!

We started off with a round of coffees, a long black ($3.50) for my sister and a soy latte ($4) for me. The coffee was excellent, really made well – we were off to a good start!

We decided to order two breakfasts to share, starting with the Pesto Eggs ($15) – scrambled eggs with pesto and Persian feta on toast. The eggs were light and fluffy and there was no shortage of pesto or feta which is always nice to see. It might have been a simple dish but it was done very well, and at the end of the day that’s what matters most!

Our other breakfast was the vegetarian version of the Breakfast Burrito ($12), packed with scrambled eggs, potato, chilli, beans, coriander, spinach, jalepeno, chipotle sauce and cheese. This was another super tasty dish with a great balance of all the ingredients and a whole lot of flavour. There was a good kick of heat to it as well, but not so much that it overpowered the burrito either. Filling, delicious and great value too!

Even though we were pretty full by this point we decided we had to share one of the milkshakes that Daisy’s Milkbar is known for, and we went with the Salted Caramel option ($7). It was thick, creamy, delicious and I’m very glad we decided to share it – I don’t think I could have finished one on my own! It was an excellent way to round out a delicious meal though!

All up we had an excellent breakfast at Daisy’s, the staff were super friendly and helpful and I liked the way the menu provided vegetarian alternatives for many of the dishes instead of having to ask for changes to be made. Not only was the food delicious but it was great value as well, definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Petersham!

I’ve only tried to go to Daisy’s once and we were waiting for too long with kids so we had to go down the road but those breakfast burritos looked super good.

We seemed to get very lucky with grabbing a table straight away, it got rather busy later on!
