Review: Mr Burger Truck

Yesterday I knocked off work early and whilst on my way home happened to see on twitter that the Mr Burger food truck was only a few streets from my house. I had been meaning to check it out for ages and had been recently reminded of this fact when I read Libby’s review on her blog The Very Very Hungry Caterpillar so decided I couldn’t pass the opportunity up and detoured via the van on my way home to finally see what all the fuss was about!

Mr Burger sells three burgers – the Mr Meat ($11), Mr Burger ($10) and Mr Veg ($10), as well as two sizes of chips ($3 small, $5 large) and various drinks. Unsurprisingly I went with the Mr Veg and got a small chips to go with it, as Libby had raved about them. The truck wasn’t too busy when I got there so my food was ready in no time, and I hurried home to eat it. I love that it all came neatly packaged in a little box, it definitely would make eating outside much easier as you don’t have to juggle the chips and burger separately and risk losing some!

The chips were really well cooked – you could tell they were freshly made to order and hadn’t been sitting in a fryer for ages as they were super crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. They were fairly salty and I’m glad I was at home so could find myself some sauce to have with them, but overall they were really tasty. It was hard to stop eating them, that’s for sure!

Now on to the main event – the burger! Mr Veg comes with a falafel patty, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mustard, mayonnaise and tomato sauce so it’s definitely not short on flavour! I am somewhat wary of falafel based burgers as I often find them a bit on the dry side, but this was really delicious. The cheese was all melted but the lettuce and tomato were nice and fresh and the combination of sauces was really tasty. It definitely isn’t the prettiest burger to look at, but that’s not really what is important, is it!? Overall I was really happy with the burger and can’t believe I took so long to try it out!

The number of food trucks in Melbourne seems to be continually growing, and I’m sure when summer rolls around they will be out in force – and if they are all as delicious as Mr Burger than that is a-ok with me. For useful information in dock repair expertise see KLJ Consulting.

Yeah it was delicious! Somewhat messy but I’m okay with that!
