The Foodie Files: Bake Play Smile

We’re back for the third instalment of the Foodie Files series, this time I’m chatting to the delightful Lucy, also known as Bake Play Smile! I’ve met Lucy a couple of times now and she’s absolutely as lovely as she comes across on her blog, and she sure does know her stuff! Seriously, if you want to learn how to get the most out of pinterest, Lucy is your lady!

I’m sure most of you are already well aware of Lucy’s amazing blog, but if you’re yet to stumble across her then prepare yourself for an incredible collection of sweet treats, with a few savoury options thrown in for good measure! She has a collection of e-books available over on her blog too, so be sure to check those out! Now, over to the interview!

Do you have a philosophy towards food?

To make and eat what you enjoy… all things in moderation of course!

What’s your favourite food memory?

Oh this one is easy! It would definitely have to be baking with my Mum on Saturday mornings as a kid! It was my favourite time of the week. Mum taught me everything I know about cooking. I absolutely loved cooking right from when I was little.

Do you have a go-to food of choice?

Hmm… probably bananas! Haha I know that’s a bit boring! But I just love them. They’re the quickest and easiest snack on the run. Either that or a sneaky square (or 5!) of chocolate.

What’s your favourite meal of the day?

Definitely breakfast! I am hopeless during the day if I haven’t had a good breaky. On the weekends it’s nice to go out for a late breakfast, but during the week it’s usually a green smoothie, homemade granola and yoghurt, or fresh fruit and yoghurt.

What’s the strangest food you’re ever eaten (and would you eat it again?!)

In Istanbul I ate a wet burger. Apparently it’s a popular late-night treat – it’s basically a burger in a bun that’s sat in a steamer type thing. It actually wasn’t too bad… although I don’t think I’d eat one again. The food in Istanbul absolutely blew me away (apart from the wet burger!) – just incredibly yummy!

If you were showing a visitor around town for a weekend where would be your must-eat destinations?

Mamasita for Mexican food, Hutong Dumpling Bar for dumplings, The Hardware Societe for breakfast, Movida for tapas… Melbourne has so many great places to eat!
