If you’re taking part in Plastic Free July this year then you’ll probably be already thinking about reusable bags. The biggest question I get is about remembering your reusable bags, so today I’m here to help with some tips. I’d love to hear what works for you as well!
Visual Reminders
One of the simplest ways to remember your reusable bags is to leave visual reminders in places you can’t miss them. That might be a post-it note on the back of your door, a note on your fridge or even in your car. Anywhere that you will see the notes when you need to remember your bags to trigger you to take them with you.
Electronic Reminders
This can be done in conjunction with visual reminders, or instead of them, depending on your preference and just how forgetful you are! Set yourself alarms or reminders to go off on your phone to say things like ‘don’t forget to pack your bags’ before you leave in the morning, or head to the shops. Soon enough this will become easier, and you’ll need less of them, but in the beginning they are so handy!
Keep Them Somewhere Obvious
One of the simplest ways to make sure you remember your reusable bags is to keep them somewhere you can’t miss them. This might include hanging on a hook near the front door or in your garage, or get small foldable bags you can pop in your handbag or backpack. If you find yourself never remembering to get them out of the boot of your car then pop them in the front seat instead, or anywhere you can see them. The easier you make it for yourself the more likely you are to remember!
Put Them Back
An absolute key part of remembering your bags is to ensure you put them back where they belong after you use them. That way they’ll always be where you expect them, be that in your car, handbag or by the front door. There’s no use setting up all kinds of reminders if you can’t find the bags when you need them!
