Vegan High Tea

On Sunday afternoon I had a few of my best girlfriends over to catch up and celebrate some birthdays, an engagement and my belated housewarming. We decided to do a high-tea of sorts, and as two of them are vegan we made the whole shebang vegan friendly. I supplied the savoury treats and some pimms and lemonade, and a few of them brought along some sweet treats to round off our vegan feast.

I thought I’d share some snaps with you today in case you’re looking for some vegan friendly ideas for yourself!

No high tea is complete without some cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches, I made these vegan friendly by using tofutti in place of the cream cheese – a simple substitution and a delicious result! A liberal sprinkling of salt and pepper and thinly sliced cucumber is all you need!

Next up I made some Rice Paper Rolls jam packed full of carrots, snow peas, capsicum, bean shoots, satay tofu and vermicelli noodles. Served up with both sweet chilli sauce and soy sauce for dipping and away you go. Sure, they might not be the most traditional of high-tea foods, but they’re a favourite of mine so why not bend the rules a little!

I then made two different dips – a White Bean & Rocket dip and Roast Capsicum (recipes to come soon!) which I served up with some homemade paprika pita chips, carrots and celery. The dips were delicious and provided a nice light addition to the table.

My last contribution to the feast was a big container of Pimms and Lemonade, served with sliced cucumber, strawberries, orange and mint. Needless to say, it was pretty delicious and there was only a pile of (rather alcohol soaked) fruit left at the end of the afternoon!

We were spoilt with sweet treats as well, with coconut caramel cakes, raw brownies, raw coconut macaroons and sweet potato rounds.

Unfortunately I didn’t get a good photo of the whole spread (we just wanted to get stuck into the food!) but here’s the best I’ve got – so much deliciousness!

If that wasn’t enough, one of my friends gave me a collection of amazing food stuffs and some gorgeous bamboo serving bowls as a gift – rather excited to try out these goodies!

Unsurprisingly it was an excellent afternoon of delicious foods, great friends and lots of laughter. Such a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
