Bits and Pieces: Non-Food Edition

The other day I shared some of the bits and pieces I have been eating recently, and today I wanted to do something similar but with some non-food things! It might be hard to believe, but I do occasionally do things that don’t revolve around food! And don’t forget, you can always follow I Spy Plum Pie on facebook or instagram if you’d like to connect outside of the blog – I’m pretty friendly, I promise!

George RR Martin, author of the y’know, vaguely popular books that became the TV series Game of Thrones was in Melbourne recently and B and I went along to hear him speak, put on by the Wheeler Centre. He was joined on stage by Michelle Fairley who plays Catelyn Stark, and the place was packed with people keen to hear his views on writing, the adaptation of his work for TV and his influences. He was a really interesting speaker and gave some great insight into how when the TV show first took off he said yes to any offers that came his way, and he always keeps his word so has found himself working on all kinds of things for the last few years. He is slowly extracting himself from the parts he wishes he didn’t say yes to, and now will have more time to focus on the next book in the series, which he promised will eventually be finished! Sorry the photo is terrible, the lighting was pretty atrocious and I was a bit far back!

There’s always something on in Melbourne, and one such recent event was Melbourne Music Week. This was right up B’s alley and he went to a few different bits and pieces during the week, but I joined him for a sunny Sunday afternoon at the Residence which was located in Birrarung Marr. We soaked up the sunshine, listened to some DJ sets, snacked on Miss Chu’s vegetarian spring rolls (ok, so this post won’t be completely devoid of food!) and sipped on white sangria – it was a pretty nice way to spend a few hours on a Sunday!

Back at the start of November I got myself all dressed up and attended the wedding of someone I have known basically my entire life, which was pretty special. The groom and my sister went to kindergarten together, so we’ve known the family since I was about 2 years old and they were some of our very first friends in Australia. It was a beautiful wedding on a gloriously sunny day, and the reception included a photobooth, which my sister and I took full advantage of! Can’t keep us away from silly props! Find the perfect chairs covers for your event. Chair covers offer an affordable way to harmonize mismatched décor and furniture, or blend in your party chairs with your table linens, backdrop, drapes, and other décor aspects.

I was lucky enough to be sent some items from the new range at 1 Skin Solution. I absolutely loved the candles I bought a while back, so I’m super excited that Raylene has added some new scents to the range. In fact, now there are candles and soaps in all the same scents as the lip balms, so they make pretty perfect gift packs if you’re on the hunt for Christmas ideas!

I got a candle in Almond Biscotti ($12.10) and it smells good enough to eat!

I also got one of the new gentle soaps in Vanilla and Rosewood ($5.50) and it smells equally divine and is exactly as the name suggests – soft and gentle thanks to the hempseed oil and shea butter.
