Yesterday I knocked off work early and whilst on my way home happened to see on twitter that the Mr Burger food truck was only a few streets from my house. I had been meaning to check it out for ages and had been recently reminded of this fact when I read Libby’s review on her blog The Very Very Hungry Caterpillar so decided I couldn’t pass the opportunity up and detoured via the van on my way home to finally see what all the fuss was about!
One of my favourite things about living in Collingwood/Fitzroy is the abundance of quality cafes dotted through the backstreets. It means that not only is there no shortage of great food, but if one place is full you can hopefully find a seat at another cafe nearby! Recently we’ve been trying out a few cafes that we’ve walked past a million times but never ventured inside, and that’s how we ended up at Ici one Sunday morning. (more…)
I first heard about 1Skin Solution through the lovely Ingrid’s blog In Glossy Beauty. She just happened to mention purchasing some soy scented candles right as I burnt my last one to the bottom so I headed over to the website to learn more, and I was not at all disappointed. 1Skin Solution are an Australian company that makes scented candles, bath products and lip balms using natural ingredients. Many of their products are vegan and they are a certified cruelty free brand. They also offer free shipping within Australia – perfect!
Despite living not very far from Bayte, I first heard about this middle eastern inspired cafe when Cindy and Michael reviewed in on their blog back in June. I decided then I needed to give it a try, so B and I finally made it there one sunny Sunday morning. We sat out in the back courtyard and soaked up the winter sun, while struggling over what to order as all the vegetarian dishes sounded delicious.
The next stop on my tour of vegetarian friendly pubs was the Little Creatures Dining Hall on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. Little Creatures are a brewery based in Fremantle, Western Australia and make drinks such as the Little Creatures beers, Pipsqueak ciders and White Rabbit beers. The dining hall in Melbourne is a large space, set up like a German beer hall and serves breakfast (on weekends only), lunch and dinner as well as obviously stocking all their alcoholic beverages.
