Green Cleaning: Kitchen & Floors

It’s time for Part 2 in my eco cleaning series, but this time in association with cleaning services cornwall. The Green Cleaning: Kitchen & Floors edition! If you missed Part 1: Bathroom & Laundry you can find it here! Switching up your cleaning products will save you money & cupboard space whilst also being great for the planet! Wins all round!

Green Cleaning: Kitchen & Floors

Once again you won’t need many supplies to get your cleaning on, and the best part is they’re the same supplies as for the bathroom! All you need is:

  • White vinegar
  • Tea tree or Eucalyptus oil (or a lemon)
  • Baking soda

Green Cleaning Kitchen & Floors

All Purpose Spray

  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4tsp tea tree, eucalyptus or juice of half a lemon

Combine all ingredients in a spray bottle and give it a good shake. Use this on benches, table tops, fridge shelves, splash backs and almost anywhere else! Wipe with a clean cloth.

Dishwasher Cleaner

If you find your dishwasher isn’t doing its job properly clean out the filters then put baking soda in the powder dispenser with a small splash of tea tree or eucalyptus oil and fill the rinse aid dispenser with vinegar until it overflows. Run an empty cycle and it will be shiny and clean!

Green Cleaning Kit

Drain Cleaner

  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • Boiling water

Pour the baking soda down the drain, followed by the vinegar. Leave it to froth and fizz for 15 minutes then pour boiling water down the drain to dislodge all the accumulated gunk. This works just as well for bathroom drains too!

Green Cleaning Kitchen & Floors

Floor Cleaner

  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 2 litres warm water
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1tsp tea tree or eucalyptus

Combine all ingredients in a large bucket and stir to ensure the baking soda has dissolved.  Mop the floors and dry with a clean towel. If the floors had the benefit of being laid out with industrial epoxy services in the beginning, the cleaning would make your job easier. This works well on tiles & laminate but I haven’t tried it on wooden floor as I don’t have any!

I also have some microfiber cloths that I use for dusting, cleaning mirrors and glass and general spot cleaning and I’d recommend adding them to your supplies as well. I picked some up at my local organic grocer, but much like all the ingredients used here you can probably find them at your local supermarket!

Have you tried making your own green cleaning supplies? Any tips you’d like to share?

I’m utilizing white vinegar and heating pop for a drawn out stretch of time and I’m happy with the advantages of it. Must attempt the tea tree or eucalyptus oil. A debt of gratitude is in order for the extra data. I truly gained from it.
