Kiwifruit Smoothies

The other weekend I came across some rather ripe kiwifruit hiding out in the bottom of my fruit bowl and realised drastic action was needed to ensure they didn’t go to waste. I thought about making a cheesecake or pavlova to use them all on, but given I wasn’t planning on doing any entertaining that weekend (and definitely didn’t need to eat a whole cheesecake myself!) I thought that probably wasn’t the best idea. So, I decided I would use them as the basis of my smoothies for the next few days and see what flavour combos I could come up with!

Strawberry & Kiwifruit Smoothie

My first flavour was a classic Strawberry-Kiwifruit smoothie using fresh kiwifruit & strawberries blended with almond milk, maca powder, chia seeds and ice. It was creamy and delicious and I slurped it down in no time!

Banana & Kiwifruit Smoothie

My next combo was a super simple Banana-Kiwifruit Smoothie made with fresh banana and kiwifruit, coconut water and ice. I drank this after being out in the sun for a little while and it was really refreshing and hydrating. Delicious!

My last combo was a blend of fresh kiwifruit, frozen mango, freshly squeezed orange juice and chia seeds. This was probably my favourite of all, it was like a tropical cocktail, but good for me!

I really liked the addition of the kiwifruit to my smoothies, so I think it’s safe to say they won’t be getting neglected in my fruit bowl any longer!

Kiwi fruit are a bit like that Liz.. always lurking in the bottom of fruit bowl, fridge crisper drawers, my lunch bag for work.. They are a bit like avocados, in that I find them that tab to late in their lifecycle!
Glad to see that kiwis make for delicious smoothies in a pinch though, these offerings sound amazing 😀 Thanks for linking up to Smoothie OTW and I hope you’ll join in again soon!

They seem good at hiding don’t they! As a Kiwi I should probably treat them with a bit more respect! They were great in the smoothies though!
