It’s November Favourite Finds time! It’s been a much better month here in Melbourne with lockdown easing combined with beautiful weather really creating a pretty amazing atmosphere. I’ve been making the most of the ability to get out and about again, which unsurprisingly makes up a lot of this month’s post! I’d love to hear about your November favourite finds too!
Return to the pub
I tried to support local food businesses as much as possible during lockdown, but pub food really doesn’t work that well as a takeaway option. So, now that we can sit down and eat again I have been prioritising pub visits. From quick mid-week meals to longer Friday night adventures they have all made me very happy.
The combination of being able to sit with friends, drink tap beer and eat delicious vegetarian pub meals has absolutely been one of the highlights of November for me. It was something I always knew I enjoyed, but I’m absolutely lapping it up after not being able to do it for so long!
It’s not hard to enjoy it with delicious options like that Carringbush Hotel burger, the Grace Darling eggplant parma or the Fox Hotel pulled tempeh roll!! If you need me in the lead-up to Christmas I recommend checking one of my locals.
To Asia With Love
Unsurprisingly, I am a big fan of Hetty McKinnon’s cookbooks (although I don’t have as many as I feel I should!) so after seeing constant praise for her new one I decided to add it to my collection. I was absolutely not disappointed. Everything I have cooked from To Asia With Love so far has been seriously delicious. I really appreciate the substitution options that are provided for each recipe as well, super helpful addition. This is going to get a big workout, I can already tell.
Seltzers
Given it has been described as the Summer of Seltzers I decided to jump on the bandwagon and see what all the fuss is about. They have now become a staple of the many, many picnics I have been on recently. I have been trying to pick up new flavours and brands to try and have already got some favourites (although I’m not going to stop my research!).
The lemon and lime flavour from Ray Hard Seltzers (the folks behind Hop Nation beers) and the Pine Lime Fizzer (from Moon Dog) are my current front runners. I really like that they are refreshing and delicious, without leaving me feeling quite so full and heavy like beer sometimes does. An excellent addition to the rotation for summer!
Seize the Yay Flip Book
My seriously talented friend Sarah put out her second Quote of the Day Flip Book and I was lucky enough to have one sent to me. It now has pride of place on my new bookshelves (the first one is in my bedroom) and I love flipping through a choosing a new quote every couple of days to focus on. It’s such a lovely product – and if you haven’t already picked up her book I highly recommend you do that too!
