October Favourites

It’s been a while since I shared some of my favourite finds (in fact, I haven’t done it since May!) so I thought I’d round out the month by sharing some of my October favourites! So here goes!

Glass Keep Cup

I mentioned in my post on reducing plastic that I was keen to try out the new glass Keep Cup^, so I decided to do just that and ordered myself one for home. It’s so good that I even want to use it when I’m just making myself coffee at home!

October Favourites

The glass is solid enough that it doesn’t feel like it would break in my handbag and the new lid (well, new compared to the keep cup I have at work!) is much nicer to drink from as well. There’s lots of colour choices and they even do a version that has cork around the middle. B was not at all surprised when I chose the purple version! It feels good to now have something I can use if I’m getting takeaway coffee at home, or heading to the city for work, rather than having to get a disposable cup. I wish I’d done it earlier!

October Favourites

Glass Straw

Another thing I mentioned in my plastics post was straws. Now, I love me a pretty paper straw, but I was starting to feel uncomfortable with how many of them I was going through (even though I was using biodegradable ones and putting them in my bokashi) so I bought myself a glass straw^ instead! I like my smoothies quite thick and creamy so I went for a wider straw (12mm) which was a little strange to use the first time but now I can’t see myself going back. The straw is suitable for hot and cold drinks, as well as being dishwasher and microwave safe, so it’s not just for smoothies!

October FavouritesI also popped a straw cleaner^ into my basket as during the warmer months I have a smoothie most days, but I don’t use my dishwasher anywhere near that often. It’s basically just a brush on a long handle but it definitely makes cleaning the straw a whole lot easier!

Loving Earth Salted Caramel Chocolate

I finally also got my mitts on some of the new Loving Earth salted caramel chocolate and oh boy, it was love at first bite. Thankfully it’s quite rich (although not as rich as some of their darker flavours) so I can’t eat too much of it at once otherwise there’s a good chance I would have been through more than a few blocks of it this month! If you want to read about why I’m such a big fan of Loving Earth in general, check out my Spotlight On post here! Maybe grab yourself a block of the chocolate first though, you won’t regret it!

October Favourites

Yoga Studios App

This last one isn’t food or drink related, but rather the Yoga Studios app! I’d been looking for a yoga app as I like to do yoga at home so when I saw someone mention this one on instagram I immediately checked it out and I’m loving it! It has classes for all experience levels, with 10, 15, 30 and 60 minute options focusing on balance, strength, flexibility and relaxation. There are also specific classes for deep relaxation meditations, back pain, dupuytren’s, runners and sun salutations. You can even build your own classes! The videos are all super easy to follow and there is a separate section of the app that goes through every single pose, including modifications. I’m really enjoying using it and I think it’s definitely worth the $4.99 I spent on it!

And there we have it, my favourite new finds of October! I bought my glass keep cup, glass straw & the straw cleaner from my new favourite online eco-store – Biome^ and they arrived on my doorstep super quickly which always makes me a happy camper, I hate waiting for deliveries!

Have you made any new favourite finds recently?

Thanks for the kind words Merilyn! It’s scary how many coffee cups get thrown away each day, isn’t it. So much unnecessary waste.

I am loving all of these finds. I have thought about glass straws but am thinking i might have to get stainless ones because of the little one.

The glass does feel pretty solid, but a stainless one might still be a safer bet! They have a few different sizes as well as straight and bent ones, so hopefully you can find something you like! xx
