Queenscliff Exploring: Jack Rabbit Vineyard

During our week in Queenscliff we booked in for lunch at the cafe at Jack Rabbit Vineyard – House of Jack Rabbit. It was a beautiful setting for a lovely lunch – the views over the bay are hard to beat! Spoiler alert, the food was excellent too!

The menu at House of Jack Rabbit during the day includes a mix of brunch and lunch options, both of which are available all day. We were there for lunch so it only seemed appropriate to start with a glass of their rose (and a bottle may have come home with me as well). We were off to a good start!

We started with the Vegetarian Mezze Plate ($28) to share which was a very good choice. It had a really good variety of options, including some excellent dolmades not to mention that beetroot dip! It also came with a great selection of crackers and bread, with more than enough provided to match the spread. We very happily worked our way through this!

For mains, both my folks got the Leura Lamb Salad ($28), served with quinoa, beetroot, rocket, feta, pistachio dukkah and a pomegranate glaze. Whilst this is clearly not something I tried myself, both of them were very positive about the dish, They certainly didn’t skimp on the lamb, that’s for sure!

My choice was the Fried Tofu Sushi Bowl ($25) which came with brown rice, pickled carrot, avocado, wakame salad, edamame, cucumber, sesame and tonkatsu sauce. This was an absolutely delicious dish! The mix of textures and flavours was really well balanced and it was overall just a really fresh, tasty lunch. I had been very torn as to whether to order this or the equally delicious sounding artichoke burger, but I wasn’t disappointed with my choice. May have to go back for that burger though!
