Review: January Native Box

After enjoying using all the products I got when I tried Native Box back in June I decided it was time to treat myself again and ordered the January Native Box! It promptly arrived a few days after they reopened for the year and I’m pretty happy with what I found inside!

For those who are not familiar, Native Box is a monthly subscription service which a focus on eco-friendly, Australian owned products. You can order one off boxes (like I have) or subscribe to get one delivered each month, and the box contains a mix of full sized, travel sized and sample sized products, which gives you an opportunity to discover brands and products that you otherwise may never have come across.

January Native Box

Native Box has quite a few different options, the Classic Box, a Vegan Box, the Supersize box, a Mums & Bubs box, a Beauty Box and also a Men’s Box. I went with the Classic Box, which is $24.95 (using the gift option to buy it as a once off) including postage.

The box also comes with a little booklet explaining what the products are, whether they are vegan/gluten free/certified organic etc, as well as including some special offers for ordering more of the products as well. Anyway, enough with the background info lets see what was in the box!

Sea Siren – Nail Polish

This Australian owned company makes nail polish that is vegan friendly, not tested on animals, and free of 5 of the top toxins which are often found in nail polishes. The colour I received is called ‘pamper me pink’ and is unsurprisingly a gorgeous soft baby pink colour. I haven’t tried it yet to see what the consistency is like, but I will report back when I do!

Bhuja Snacks – Original Mix

This snack pack includes a mix of noodles, peas, peanuts and sultanas, all coated in a nicely spiced coating. It’s vegan, gluten free and has no added MSG, and most importantly delicious! I’ve actually had these snacks before so I whilst it wasn’t a new brand to me I was more than happy to snack away on these!

Ayana Organics – Vanilla Body Butter

This body butter is made of coconut butter and sweet almond oil and scented with vanilla and sweet orange essence. It smells amazing and has a thick, creamy consistency. It’s certified organic, Australian made and suitable for vegans. At this time of year my skin can get quite dry thanks to the combination of the hot sun and drying air conditioning, so I was very excited to give this a try. Even with its thick consistency it absorbs easily and quickly and doesn’t leave an oily residue. The scent lingers but is’t overpowering, plus it’s such a nice smell that I kind of want it to stick around! I think I’ll have to buy more of this!

Probiotic Solutions – Fresh Feet

The last Native Box I bought had a stain remover from this brand which I’ve found works really well, so I was happy to see something else from them as well! Whilst a shoe deodoriser spray might not sound like the most exciting product, for someone like me who walks pretty much everywhere I think it will come in handy, particularly over the rest of summer! No-one wants stinky shoes! The spray itself is scent-free so it won’t be masking the shoe odours, rather the combination of microbes removes the germs that create the odours, neutralising the smell.

January Native Box

Pure – Papaya Ointment

This is an Australian made paw paw ointment, made of all natural ingredients and free from petrochemicals (which lots of paw paw ointments on the market still contain). Papaya ointment is such a versatile product as it can be used to rehydrate lips and skin, soothe cracked or irritated skin and even as a nappy cream. I’ve used lots of different paw paw creams over the years so I’m looking forward to giving this one a try, it’s going straight in the handbag!

Norbu – Natural Sweetener

This natural sweetener is made from monk fruit and is purported to be a natural, low calorie alternative to sugar and artificial sweeteners and can be used in everything from coffee to baking. It’s certified organic, vegan friendly and free trade and claims to have no bitter aftertaste! Whilst I don’t use a lot of sugar I don’t actively avoid it either (although I use coconut sugar most of the time) but I shall give this a try when I next do some baking, or maybe in my next batch of iced tea!

Anerah Skincare – Rose Hydrating Day & Night Face Cream

This face cream is free from sulfates, parabens, lanolin, mineral oil, SLS, petrochemicals and artificial fragrances. Instead, it’s full of rose, frankincense, lavender, avocado and rose hip, so it’s full of nourishing ingredients. The cream smells really lovely and you only need a little as it spreads really nicely and absorbs really well. It’s probably a little thick for a day cream for me but I’ll definitely be using it as a night cream!

January Native Box

Morlife – Alkalising Greens

These two sachets aren’t actually on the booklet of products, but that’s alright with me! Each one contains 10g of powder which apparently provides the equivalent of 5 serves of vegetables and fruit whilst also being highly alkalising, a source of probiotics, prebiotics and fibre. They also contain certified organic wheat grass juice, barley grass juice, spirulina and chlorella. The powder can be added to juice, smoothies, water, salad dressings or dips and I think smoothies might be the go for me!

And that’s what was in my January Native Box! I’m sure I’ll get good use out of everything and I’ve definitely found some new brands to explore further! If you want to give Native Box a try you can use this link & get $5 off your first order using the code REWARD-7733-G7X36-VPAN.
