For me, part of wanting to live as sustainably as possible includes not only what I eat but what I put on my skin as well. There are some great natural skincare and cosmetic companies out there, and I thought I would start by profiling a company I have been using for the last year or so, Sukin.
Sukin are an Australian company who make skin, hair and body products that are free from chemicals, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS), Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLES), animal derivates, artificial colours, parabens, synthetic fragrances and a whole host of other nasties. Instead, their products are ful of active botanicals and essential oils that do great things for your skin, hair and body.
In case that wasn’t enough they are also committed to sustainability and are a certified carbon neutral organisation, use recyclable packing and all their products are biodegradable. They aren’t kidding when they say the make skincare that “doesn’t cost the Earth”.
While all this is important it isn’t much use if the products are no good, but almost everything I have tried so far from their range has been excellent. My favourite products are their rosehip oil, facial scrub, cream cleanser and the facial masque. I’m yet to try any of their shampoo or conditioners but they are next on my list when I use up my current products. Last year they also released a sensitive range which is full of soothing ingredients like aloe vera, cucumber and chamomile.
What’s more, their products are all super affordable, with most being under $20 and the majority closer to the $10 mark, and they are easily picked up in chemists and Priceline across Australia. According to their website they are stocked internationally including New Zealand, the UK and Canada, so look them up if you live outside Australia!
What’s your favourite natural cosmetic or skincare brand? Have you tried Sukin?
