Canberra Eating: Penny University Cafe

One of the first meals we had during our weekend in Canberra was at Penny University Cafe & Coffee Roasters in Kingston. The cafe was super busy when we arrived, with people not only at the tables inside and out, but lining up for takeaway coffee and food as well! Luckily we were able to snag a table straight away, and the staff were excellent despite the hubbub around them.

Review: Square & Compass Cafe, East Melbourne

East Melbourne is known for its beautiful, expensive heritage homes and well kept gardens, but not so much for its food or nightlife. That’s starting to change thanks to the addition of Square & Compass cafe to the hospital end of the suburb, bringing 7 seeds coffee & delicious food to the area. The folks behind Square & Compass have been involved in some of Melbourne’s most loved cafes (Barry, Touchwood, Pillar of Salt, Porgie & Mr Jones), so they certainly know what they are doing!

Review: Major Major, Collingwood

Major Major opened at the southern end of Smith Street late in 2014 and I visited not long after for lunch with my family and we were all mightily impressed with the food. B and I decided it was about time we returned to try their breakfast offerings and I actually remembered to take my camera this time!

Review: Stagger Lee’s Fitzroy

Stagger Lee’s is the newest cafe offering from the folks behind Proud Mary in Collingwood, and despite being on nearby Brunswick Street was a whole lot easier to get a table at! B and I went along to check it out for brunch one sunny Saturday, and we were pretty impressed with the offerings!
