One recent Friday night B wanted to go see a gig at Long Play in North Fitzroy, so despite the fact we couldn’t find a menu for their food we decided we’d take our chances and give it a whirl for dinner as well. Long Play is a small wine bar on St George’s Road with an old style cinema out the back, which, as it turns out, doubles as a live music venue as well.
Review: La Condesa Taqueria
I’m a big lover of Mexican food, yet somehow never made it to check out La Condesa when it was just a taco stand in the back garden of the site, so when B and I were looking for somewhere local to try one Friday night we decided to stop by and try the slightly expanded menu of the indoor eating section which opened a few months back.
Review: St Kilda Dispensary
One rainy Sunday morning B and I found ourselves south of the river and in need of a warming brunch to kick start our day. We had a quick search for nearby cafes and came across the St Kilda Dispensary, which had great reviews, so decided to give it a try.
Pubs for Vegetarians: Grumpy’s Green
We decided it was time to add a new stop to the Pubs for Vegetarians tour of Melbourne we’ve been on, with a visit to Grumpy’s Green on Smith Street. Grumpy’s promotes itself as an eco-friendly pub with all food, beer and wine sourced locally, recycled furniture throughout the pub and capturing its rainwater on site to use in the bathrooms. These are all positives in my book!
Review: Hammer and Tong 412
We had been meaning to try Hammer and Tong 412 for brunch since it opened, but every time we had gone by there was always a large queue waiting for tables, so we’d gone elsewhere. This time though we were lucky enough to walk almost straight to a table, so we were off to a good start!
