Balcony Gardening: Freestanding Vertical Garden Edition

It’s been a while since my last Balcony Garden post and there have been some successes (so much lettuce and coriander!) and some failures (not sure what happened to my oregano!) along the way. Now that Spring has arrived it was time to get serious with some new plants & some TLC for those that remain, as well as a new addition to my balcony garden – a freestanding vertical garden*!

Spotlight On: Who Gives A Crap

The topic of today’s post is a little different to what I usually write about, but today I want to talk about toilet paper. Specifically, Who Gives A Crap’s toilet paper. Who Gives A Crap is a company that started in Melbourne just over a year ago and creates sustainable, fully recycled toilet paper that is free from inks, dyes and perfumes. Even better than that, 50% of the profits of their sales goes to Water Aid to help build toilets and improve sanitation in the developing world – how impressive is that! Toilet paper with a heart!

Living Sustainably Locally

One of the easiest ways to live more sustainably is to live as locally as possible – which means supporting local businesses, buying locally produced fruit and veggies and leaving the car at home whenever you can. This can be tricky however if you don’t know what is available in your local area, or how to find out more to inform your choices. I have come across some websites that I think are great resources and worth bookmarking – so I thought I’d share them with you!
