Do you have a philosophy towards food?

I try to follow the 80/20 rule – eat healthy 80% of the time and don’t beat yourself up for the other 20%. Most weeks it works, other weeks its more like 80% rubbish and 20% good. At the end of the day, I need balance and as long as my body is reacting badly, I’m happy. That said, I am probably the worst person to be around when I’m feeling yuck – all I want to do is hide in bed, watch TLC and retreat from the world!

What’s your favourite food memory?

Oh my! There are so many! The one that comes immediately to mind is being sat on the floor with my Omani family, eating the most chicken, rice, lamb and handmade bread with just my right hand! So much fun but oh so messy!

Do you have a go-to food of choice?

I swear I was Italian in a former life so my go-to is always pasta. I’ll never forget the first time I ate pasta in Italy for the first time, it blew my mind! It doesn’t really fit with balance thing though so these days its either a taco bowl or chicken club lettuce cups – easy to make and not much washing up!

What’s your favourite meal of the day?

I have to choose?!?! On the weekends, I’d say breakfast. I’m on a never-ending hunt for the best Eggs Benedict! During the week, dinner, as it’s the only time I get to sit down with my hubby!

What’s the strangest food you’re ever eaten (and would you eat it again?!)

Either crickets or goat. No to the crickets, yes to the goat.

If you were showing a visitor around town for a weekend where would be your must-eat destinations?

Oh, I want to keep these all to myself! Breakfast – Morning After or Little Larder. Lunch – Comuna Cantina. Dinner – Ahmet’s (every damn time!). Dessert – Three Monkeys
