The other day I shared some of the bits and pieces I have been eating recently, and today I wanted to do something similar but with some non-food things! It might be hard to believe, but I do occasionally do things that don’t revolve around food! Despite the fact Melbourne hasn’t had the warmest of Springs, on the weekend of the 25-27 October it played host to the Australian leg of the Gelato World Tour, which was held in Argyle Square in Carlton. The Gelato World Tour is being held in eight cities across five continents and pits sixteen gelato makers against one another for each leg of the competition. Each gelato maker presents one flavour and is judged by a panel of experts, as well as votes by the public, with the top three heading to the Grand Finale in Italy in 2014. (more…)
The next stop on my tour of vegetarian friendly pubs was the Little Creatures Dining Hall on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. Little Creatures are a brewery based in Fremantle, Western Australia and make drinks such as the Little Creatures beers, Pipsqueak ciders and White Rabbit beers. The dining hall in Melbourne is a large space, set up like a German beer hall and serves breakfast (on weekends only), lunch and dinner as well as obviously stocking all their alcoholic beverages. One of the fundamentals of living sustainably is sourcing food and products as locally as possible, and for me it doesn’t get much more local than Pana Chocolate who are located just streets away from where I work. Pana Chocolate are a company that makes raw, organic, vegan, handmade chocolate that is super delicious.
As a vegetarian living in the inner suburbs of Melbourne it’s generally not too hard to find a good pub meal, so I thought I would start to share some of my favourite places to eat out for a casual, low-key, but still delicious meal – starting with the Fox Hotel!
