B and I dined as guests of Shizuku Ramen
Japanese is by far one of my favourite cuisines, and is more often than not my go-to choice when trying to choose somewhere to go out for dinner. In fact, Japan in general is one of my favourite places which most likely started after we had Japanese student teachers live with us for up to 6 months a year for much of my childhood while they were on placement at my mum’s primary school (where she was the Japanese teacher!)
One very warm Saturday night B and I couldn’t face cooking anything in the heat so ventured out to find food as close to home as we could muster. I had walked past The Rickshaw a few times since it took over a former Indian restaurant and after a quick perusal of the menu we decided to give it a go!
One recent Friday night B had a gig at Horse Bazaar in the city, and as we needed to be there earlyish for him to setup and the like we decided to just get dinner in there as well. I had heard good things about the food, which is Japanese Izakaya in style and has lots of vegetarian choices, with many of them able to be veganised as well. (more…)
One recent Saturday night B and I headed to Woodspoon Kitchen on Smith Street in Collingwood for dinner. We had been years ago (actually, on our second date!) and had really enjoyed it, so decided it was time to go back and feast on some delicious Japanese food. Woodspoon has a large number of vegetarian and vegan options and they are all clearly marked, which is always a plus. There’s nothing worse than ordering something that sounds vegetarian only to find out when it arrives that it’s not!
