Vegan High Tea

On Sunday afternoon I had a few of my best girlfriends over to catch up and celebrate some birthdays, an engagement and my belated housewarming. We decided to do a high-tea of sorts, and as two of them are vegan we made the whole shebang vegan friendly. I supplied the savoury treats and some pimms and lemonade, and a few of them brought along some sweet treats to round off our vegan feast.

Recipe: Roast Pumpkin Risotto

I’m pretty happy that it’s autumn and therefore pumpkin season here in Australia as it’s up there as one of my favourite vegetables. It’s not only delicious but it’s amazingly versatile. I use it in everything – salads, burgers, curries, soup and now a risotto! I go through phases with risotto, I either make it a lot or go months without cooking it at all but I think it’s safe to say I’m back in a risotto phase right now!

Vegetarian Favourites: Yong Green Food

Yong Green Food is an vegetarian restaurant on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy that has been serving delicious vegetarian, vegan and raw food for many years. The menu includes curries, stir fries, noodles, burgers, wraps as well as some Mexican inspired dishes. The menu is really well marked to show which dishes are vegan, gluten free, organic etc, which I always find really helpful. The service is always prompt and friendly, and the food arrives quickly and full of flavour – so given all this it’s no surprise it’s such a popular place!

Vegetarian Favourites: Vegie Bar

Vegie Bar is somewhat of a vegetarian institution in Melbourne, having been located on Brunswick Street for over 20 years now. They do amazing vegetarian, vegan and raw food and are always busy no matter what day of the week, or time of the day you visit. It’s definitely worth waiting for a table though – I have never been disappointed! In fact, I can’t believe I’m yet to write about Vegie Bar here on the blog, it’s been a favourite of mine for probably close to 10 years now!

Recipe: Tofu Scramble

For some reason I don’t seem to share many breakfast recipes, despite the fact breakfast is possibly my favourite meal of the day! I’m going to rectify that today with this recipe for tofu scramble. It’s super easy to whip up, ¬†very delicious and you can add any vegetables you have lying around! I went with capsicum and silverbeet this time (I have so much silverbeet growing at home I’m using it in everything at the moment!) but tomato, red onion, coriander, and kale all work spectacularly as well!
