During our week in Port Douglas we generally ate breakfast at home but on our last morning we checked out Betty’s Bohemian Beach Cafe and I’m so glad we did. The name might be a mouthful but the food was delicious!
The cafe was full of gorgeous decorations with lots of flowers, dream catchers and the like – an instagram dream!
Given it was already warm and humid I started with a soy iced latte ($4.50) which was exactly what the doctor ordered!
Mum ordered the Ricotta Pancakes ($18) which came with banana, hazelnut crumb and honeycomb ice cream. She’s not normally one to go for a sweet breakfast option but she loved these which were as pretty as they were delicious! There was a decent amount of all the fillings and was well balanced so it wasn’t too sweet. She sure was happy with her choice!
Dad ordered a serve of the Scrambled Eggs ($9) with added Pea & Mint Fritters ($4.50) which was simple but delicious, with the eggs light and fluffy – just as good scrambled eggs should be!
My sister went for the Pea and Mint Fritters ($17.90) which came with haloumi, avocado, greens and quinoa salad to which she also added a poached egg ($2). It was an incredibly pretty dish, with decent sized servings of all the key elements and topped with edible flowers. She was incredibly happy with her choice and I must admit it did make me wish I had some of that delicious haloumi as well!
I chose the Betty’s Breakfast – avocado, rocket, whipped fetta and vegemite on ciabatta with poached eggs ($16.50) which was another delicious dish. I love the combination of vegemite and avocado so this was always going to appeal to me, and the addition of the fetta was very welcome. I may not have had any haloumi but I was still very happy with my choice!
I loved how many vegetarian friendly dishes were on the menu and the staff were friendly and attentive. We were all very happy with the food and coffee, not to mention the pretty interiors, so it is definitely somewhere I would go back to again!
