For the last of my Queenscliff Exploring posts I thought I would share the excellent dinner we had at 360Q. Located down at the Queenscliff Marina it was a beautiful spot for a meal and the food was delicious too!
360Q is a set priced meal – $55 for two course or $70 for three. We thought we were going to try for all three courses but unfortunately two courses was all we could muster! Something to go back for though!
The wine list had lots of local options which I always like, and the staff were friendly and helpful in guiding decision making. I started with a glass of rose while we perused the menu.
There were only limited vegetarian options on the menu, but thankfully the options were all things that took my fancy. For my first course I went with the Steamed Teriyaki Mushroom Buns, topped with herbs and mushrooms. This was an excellent place to start – the mushroom in the buns was incredibly delicious, as were the buns themselves. I really liked the addition of the mushrooms and herbs to add some freshness and texture to the dish.
Both of my parents started withe the Salt and Pepper Calamari which was served with a spicy mayonnaise. They are both big calamari fans so I wasn’t at all surprised when they ordered this, and they were equally not disappointed with the dish!
For mains my dad ordered the Eye Fillet ($10 surcharge) which came with herbed potatoes, broccolini and a sticky jus. He was again very happy with his choice, with an excellent piece of steak and some really delicious vegetables to round the dish off.
Mum ordered the Vietnamese Flash Fried Barramundi which came with rice, nuoc cham and an asian herb salad. I haven’t heard my mum rave about a dish in a while as much as she did about this one – so that should tell you something! It came as a whole barramundi which required a little bit of work (although it had been deboned), but it was clearly worth it from all reports!
For my main my option was the Pumpkin, Cashew and Coconut Masala which came with rice, greens and roti. While it may have been my only choice on the menu, it was a delicious one! The curry was absolutely packed with flavour, and I loved the generous amount of crunchy cashews sprinkled on top. It was also a very generous serving (which is hard to tell from this photo!) which may explain the inability to find room for dessert! I was expecting more of a flaky bread from the description – but it was still really delicious and perfect for mopping up the leftover sauce. An excellent main course!
We had such a lovely evening at 360Q – the food, the setting and the service were all excellent. While I would have loved to see more vegetarian options to choose from I would definitely go back and dine at 360Q again!
