It’s August GoodnessMe Box review time! This month’s box was refined-sugar-free and was full of snacks, baking goods and drinks. I’m not someone who actively chooses not to have sugar – instead just making sure I have it in moderation. I was still intrigued to see what was inside the August GoodnessMe Box – so let’s see what was in the vegan box this month!
Monkfruit Sweetener Icing Powder
I have tried a few products from this brand in previous GoodnessMe Boxes, and found them all excellent replacements. They work really well in baked goods, so I have high hopes for this icing sugar option. I haven’t given it a try yet as I’m trying to hold off baking too much while I’m stuck in Stage 4 lockdown, but once I can cook for other people again it will be cracked open quickly I’m sure!
Blue Dinosaur Cheesecake Base Bite
I have loved all the Blue Dinosaur products I have tried and this was no exception. It was an excellent little bite-sized snack, perfect for getting me through a busy afternoon at work. It was biscuity and delicious, and I am keen to give the other flavours a try too!
Nirvana Stevia Liquid Concentrate & Organic Xylitol
As I mentioned, I’m not really a sugar-replacer and I don’t have sugar in my tea or coffee, so these products are unlikely to get much use by me. I’ll keep them on hand for when I can have people over in case any of my friends want to give them a try.
Nutra Organics Protein
As the weather is warming up I am moving back to smoothies for breakfast, which is when protein powder gets a good workout for me. Vanilla is my go-to flavour so I can mix it up with my fruit and vegetable choices, and this was a great protein powder. Not grainy, blended well and had a nice vanilla taste – all I ask from my protein powder!
Seedlip Non-Alcoholic Spirit
I had tried Seedlip in a previous GoodnessMe Box, and whilst I quite happily don’t drink during the week this was nice to mix things up. It has a really nice flavour and definitely made for a more interesting mid-week drink than my usual soda water!
Capi Soda Water
Speaking of soda water, this was also in the August GoodnessMe Box! I have a soda stream which keeps me in constant supply but for some reason I found it quite nice to have this option as well. This went with the Seedlip and it was a refreshing, delicious drink. I might not have needed it, but I was happy to have it!
Ceres Turmeric & Black Pepper Seaweed
I love seaweed as a snack, so I was very happy to see this in the August GoodnessMe Box. I also love Ceres Organics products, so this was a win on a few fronts! This was a really interesting flavour too and made for a great little snack. I would happily give the chilli flavour a try too!
Ultralite Keto Pancakes
I don’t love that this product is associated with a weight loss program, but the pancakes themselves were quite nice. Pretty fluffy, easy to make and with some good protein in the mix as well. It was a nice treat to make myself some pancakes for my weekend breakfast – I never really think about doing that!
SUP Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is something I always think about incorporating into my diet more, but it never seems to stick. I have been taking these daily for the last couple of weeks and whilst it’s too early to tell how much difference it’s making, it’s certainly not hurting. I like that there’s enough serves in this to give it a good try to see whether it works for me – so we shall see!
Mingle Spag Bol Seasoning
Last but definitely not least was this spag bol seasoning! I love a good mushroom spag bol and whilst I usually just throw in lots of my own herbs and spices, it was nice to just use this instead knowing it was full of real herbs and spices, and no preservatives. It made for a delicious dinner and has now reminded me to try more of this brand!
