I’ve been working weekends and late nights recently so I have tried to wind down with a bath every week to help me relax and I’ve been steadily working my way through the bath salts I made so I decided to mix things up with some DIY oat bath bags too!
Oats are particularly great for creating a soothing, relaxing bath which makes it even better if you happen to have dry or irritated skin. The oats also act as a natural anti-bacterial cleanser and adding herbs or flowers to the oat bath bags also helps to make it even more luxurious. These are super quick and easy to DIY, not to mention cheap, but they sure are a lovely addition to my bathroom!
Collect Your Supplies:
- Cheesecloth or muslin
- Oats
- Rose petals
- Lavender
- String or ribbon
Steps to DIY:
- Cut your cheesecloth into small squares
- Pop a handful of oats into the middle of the square and add some dried rose petals or lavender (or fresh lavender like I got from my balcony)
- Gather the ends together and tie up with some string or ribbon
- Done!
The best way to use these oat bath bags is to hang them directly under the faucet while you run your bath, that way the water will pour straight over the oats and make your bath water all soft and milky. Don’t be alarmed if the water goes kind of white and foggy, that’s what is meant to happen! Then, all you have to do is lie back and relax!
These would make excellent gifts in a little gift pack with some of my other homemade beauty products like the bath salts, sugar scrubs and hand scrub, all of which are quick, easy and cheap to pull together but really are luxurious to use!
