Another month is down, so it’s time for my April Favourite Finds for 2018! April was a mixed month for me, it started positively with family here from New Zealand to celebrate my mum’s 60th Birthday, but also had some much sadder times when we had to say goodbye to my Nan. Needless to say, it’s been a family-centric month and that’s a-ok with me. I did manage to find myself some new goodies to try though!
Good Seed Kefir
This kefir is another excellent discovery from the Fitzroy Mills Market, and it sure is delicious. I’ve been a kombucha fan for a while now, but had only had kefir once or twice before. I don’t drink much milk, which rules out a lot of kefir drinks, so these water based ones are much more up my alley. I love that these are locally produced, and the live cultures are excellent for my gut health as well.
All the flavours sounded delicious but I just picked up two to try this time, the ginger and the strawberry-lime. Both were excellent choices! The ginger soda was super gingery which I love, and the strawberry-lime was amazing for a hot Saturday afternoon. I’ll definitely be picking up more of the flavours to try!
Salt Box Salts
I was lucky enough to be sent some Salt Box flavoured salt to try and I’ve been using them in pretty much everything since. The garlic salt has been going in dips, on mushrooms, soups, you name it. The other two have been going in sauces, Mexican dishes, on eggs, bean dishes, look pretty much everything! They provide such an excellent flavour boost to my cooking – I seriously love them. The range of flavoured salts they have is pretty incredible – everything from merlot to truffle to ghost pepper and everything in between. Highly recommend checking them out!
Cottage Industry Candle
I was given this candle from a local store by a friend, and it’s possibly the best smelling candle I’ve ever owned. I don’t usually go for the sweet scents, but this one smells just like a lamington without being sickly sweet. The only problem is it makes me hungry whenever I light it! I’ll definitely be checking out their other scents once I have finished this one!
Hazelnut Cacao Butter
I picked up this 99th Monkey nut butter at the Fitzroy Mills Market as well, and it is SO good. I’d had their almond butter before, but picked this one up as a bit of a treat. I’ve been putting it on toast, adding a dollop to my smoothies and on porridge, you name it. The jar certainly isn’t going to last long in my house!
