Last week I shared a recipe for cashew capsicum dip with you all, and this week I thought I’d share the simple homemade crackers I made to go with them! They’re so easy to whip up, use pantry staples & are ready in no time. You won’t need to buy crackers again!
I amended recipe I found at The Kitchn
Ingredients List
- 3/4 cup plain flour
- 3/4 cup plain wholemeal flour
- 1tsp sugar
- 1tsp salt
- 2tbs olive oil
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2tbs fennel seeds
- 1/2tbs sesame seeds
- 1/2tbs sea salt
Steps
- Preheat oven to 220C
- Whisk together flours, sugar and salt
- Add the olive oil and water and stir until a sticky dough forms, adding extra water if need be
- Sprinkle some flour on your working surface and form the dough into a rectangle on your bench
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle roughly 3mm thick
- Combine the fennel seeds, sesame seeds and salt in a small bowl
- Lightly brush the dough with water and sprinkle over the combined seeds
- Slice the dough into crackers of your desired shape and size then transfer onto a lightly floured baking sheet
- Prick each with a fork and bake for 12-15 minutes, until the edges are browned
- Remove and leave to cool completely
You can mix up the topping to whatever you like – chilli flakes, dried herbs, you name it! These simple homemade crackers really do live up to their name! I highly recommend you give them a try!
