It’s August favourite finds time! I spent almost half of August on holidays in sunny Port Douglas, so it’s safe to say it was a pretty excellent month. Unsurprisingly my favourite finds are mostly things I did or picked up on holiday. I’ll be sharing some of my favourite eating experiences over the coming weeks – there were lots! I’d love to hear about your August favourite finds as well!
Umeboshi Furikake Seasoning
This is my only non-holiday related favourite find for the month, but it’s a good one. I love a simple dinner of veggies, brown rice and some kind of protein, and adding this seasoning adds an amazing flavour hit. It’s seriously delicious and I have to stop myself from sprinkling way too much on each time. It comes in a couple of flavours and I think I’ll be picking up the others very soon!
Skybury Papaya Chutney
Whilst spending a day up in the Atherton Tablelands we visited the Skybury coffee plantation which was an excellent spot to start our day. Not only did we have some delicious coffee and papaya, but I picked up this jar of chutney to bring home with me. I love the combo of sweet and spicy flavours and since getting home have been dolloping it on pretty much everything. I probably should have brought home more than one jar!
Wavelength Outer Reef Tour
My mum and I wanted to spend a day out on the Great Barrier Reef and Wavelength was the company recommended to us by locals. We actually did a tour with them 3 years ago, and it was equally excellent this time. I love that the boat is fully staffed by marine biologists, so we got really in depth info about the coral and fish we were seeing as well as the health of the reef. They do small snorkelling tours at one of the sites which was also excellent, and we got to see all kinds of amazing things. Nemo, turtles, baby whales – you name it! I highly recommend Wavelength if you’re thinking of a day on the reef too.
New Earrings
I am not one to really buy souvenirs, but I do love picking up some new jewellery when on holidays. This trip was no exception, and I treated myself to these gorgeous earrings from the Port Douglas market. They’re so bright and pretty! I particularly love that they are glass, and I have been getting all kinds of comments whenever I wear them. An excellent buy!
